Hanz Dismer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, AASECT-Certified Sexuality Educator, therapist, speaker and writer. Their work integrates social work practice into sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.
They serve as Director of Psychosocial Services at Hope Clinic, an independent abortion provider located on the Illinois side of the St. Louis Region. In this role, they serve as a Social Work & Public Health field instructor through the St. Louis Field Education Collaborative. They oversee a team of social workers and health educators who work to counsel, educate, and holistically support abortion seekers from across the United States. Dismer also oversees Hope Clinic’s research efforts, collaborating with researchers studying abortion care.
Dismer graduated from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis in 2018 with a Master of Social Work, Master of Public Health, and graduate certificate in Violence & Injury Prevention.
From 2012 to 2016 Dismer attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. They earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology as well as in Gender Studies (Interdisciplinary Studies), where they also received departmental honors. In addition, they were awarded undergraduate certificates in Leadership & Multicultural Studies.
Their work in reproductive health, rights and justice focuses on the parallels between state-sanctioned violence and relationship violence and how these forms of violence impact reproductive health outcomes. They serve as a clinical social worker, sexuality educator, field instructor, supervisor, speaker, consultant, and activist.
